OK, so you have decided to run a marathon. Or maybe a half marathon. Or maybe a 10k race. The big question is - what should your target time be?

Say you have just done a half marathon (13.11 miles) in 1 hour 21 minutes and 13 seconds. Are you are on-track for a 2 hour 55 minute marathon? Enter your training run distance and time, click on the big button and voila! the run calculator says 2 hours, 53 minutes and 35 seconds, so you're on track.

Note that the Marathon Run Calculator doesn't just extrapolate speeds - it adjusts for fatigue in quite a complicated way, based on chunks of data gleaned from various running magazines. Also note that there is no allowance made for terrain.
